New corporate donors
Fostered collaborations with arts & culture partners
1.2 million reached on social media

In early 2020, Cause+Affect developed the In Our Hearts campaign for Vancouver Foundation's public outreach in support of the Community Response Fund. This ongoing fund, established with Vancity, United Way Lower Mainland, and the City of Vancouver, addresses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BC charities.

The campaign name, In Our Hearts, reflects how British Columbians were uniting to protect the community during these unprecedented times. The campaign aimed to encourage people to express their support for frontline workers, charities, and organizations that hold a special place "in their heart," either through social media, at home, or by donating to the fund or a chosen charity.

A DIY brand identity

The black and white palette underscored the campaign's significance, and the brand design drew inspiration from an origami-style heart, urging the public to bring hope and add color or create their own artwork to symbolize a positive act of community-inspired hope and giving.

Building positive civic participation

The campaign's success was measured by corporate donors contributing to the fund and the widespread sharing of the brand and messaging throughout BC.

Collaborations with non-profit partners

Responding to the needs of arts and cultural organizations, Vancouver Foundation expanded the Community Response Fund's criteria. Cause+Affect then collaborated with the Eastside Culture Crawl to organize a community artwork competition, increasing awareness not only for essential services but also for arts and culture groups and community benefit programs.

An iterative creative strategy

The #InOurHearts campaign was one of Cause+Affect’s most meaningful projects to date, as we worked in real-time with our clients and friends at Vancouver Foundation to respond efficiently and effectively to create an uplifting yet deeply resonating initiative that encouraged participation and public response during an extreme time of need.

Social media sparked provincial awareness

The In Our Hearts video captured the essence of positivity and support needed during these uncertain times.
