Every year in British Columbia, more than 700 youth 'age out' of foster care at the age of 19. Following this critical juncture, the majority of these young adults are compelled to navigate life with minimal to no support, both financially and emotionally. The Vancouver Foundation and Fostering Change enlisted our help to bring this issue to the public's attention and into the forefront of political interest. In response, we created #SupportThe700.
Simple and to the point.
This campaign urged candidates across British Columbia to pledge their support for this cause. By making this pledge, they committed to initiating discussions on foster care support if elected and advocating for changes in government policy to enhance financial and emotional assistance for the 700 youth who age out of foster care each year.
